Hello everyone! We're proud to present to you the latest version of CMC Plus yet, CMC+ V8!

As you may well know (or not, in which case continue reading!), CMC+ (stands for Character Making Community) is the biggest official modpack to date, including many, many character and stage mods both released here and exclusive to the modpack itself, as well as a myriad of perks and features that the other builds currently doesn't allow for (an all new Assist system, the ability to assign stages to characters for them to appear in in Classic Mode, alongside many more!).

This is a standalone build; this means you download it somewhere else separate from your any other build, you extract it (and extract the music zip inside the game's music folder afterwards) and you're good to go. You don't need to combine it with any other build; that will only cause problems on your end.

Featuring:

• A whopping 375 total unique characters (without counting alternate forms)! With 295 starters, and an absolutely dizzying 80 unlockable characters!

• A brand new single player Challenge Mode, full of daunting tasks waiting to be conquered, ranging from boss fights to adventure courses both original and based on existing properties! The best part of this? You can also make custom challenges yourself!

• An entirely unique main menu design, complete with new features such as a music player, achievements and much more!

• Brand new collectable Stickers! Earn CBucks by playing the single player modes to then perform rolls on the gachapon and earn many different stickers to add to your collection, each with their own set of rarities! Can you collect them all?

• For the first time, you get the chance to also make custom items! There may only be XX new ones for the moment, but this is just the beginning!

• A new, fully customizable Arcade Mode!

• A staggering 290~ unique stages in which to duke it out!

• A total of 86 custom assists from which to choose to get assistance in battle!

• And many, many other things.

Note: If you want a guide for the unlocks: Here is a spreadsheet with all the unlocks discovered by the community.
However, if you don't want to unlock everyone and just want to get straight into playing:
Spam the F8 key on the title screen until you get a text prompt; once this happens, type "where is alice" with the spaces and without the "". You will get every single character, except for six (very special hidden ones).

Several new character and stage additions (both public and new exclusives)

- New GAME_SETTINGS.txt file that allows you to completely customize your build; be it configuring aspects of a classic mode run, configuring menu HUD colors depending on which gamemode you've entered, changing the size of the mugs of your character select screen's roster, or completely moving the UI in matches, you've got it all here!
- CSS PAGES! Pressing page up or page down on your keyboard allows you to swap between several different rosters
- New Assist Select screen! You can enable or disable it from the rules menu depending on your preference.

- Brand new .dat file system that combines what the prior one had with the features of the classicstages.txt file (heavily simplified) as well as optional text lines to denote authorship
- Both Arcade and Challenge mode now have difficulty selection options in case you want to have an easier time
- New cutscene system that allows a plethora of new options to challenge courses that you want to give more depth to.

- The ability to make your own brand new Break The Targets and Board The Platforms stages.

CMC+ v8.1 Changelog

• New artwork for Raiden, Vergil & High Magister
  
• C-stick throws system overhauled. No longer causes issues to buffering when using control stick for throws. If your character for some reason need to be exempt from this engine wide change (For characters like Klonoa, though he is already taken into account), use the variables "no_cstick_throws = 1;" and "no_forced_diagonal_throws = 1" on them.
  
• Can now disable CSS music via GAME_SETTINGS.txt so that the main menu music plays in the CSS instead of a CSS exclusive track, a la Crusade 9.3.
  
• CSS Swapping is now possible by using Shield, functioning similar to Jump (Palettes) and Grab (Alts).
  
• Pressing taunt while shielding on a platform will make the character perform platform dropthrough.
  
• ukemi_voice, item_heavy_voice and edge_voice and wall_jump_sound now added for fighter creation. You can add these to your character's init.txt like you would any other voiceline.
  
• Mazadus challenge added
  
• Madruga challenge added to preserve his Classic Boss Fight.
  
• Madruga's unlock is no longer hard coded in the game itself.
  
• Fixed the bug that caused sticker progress to reset when entering Sticker Gallery.
  
• Fixed issue where changing the CSS through the Rules Settings menu doesn't automatically apply once exiting said menu.
  
• Fixed airdodge not being restored when using a spring in courses.
  
• Fixed cases where custom sounds wouldn't be played if multiple instances of a challenge mode enemy that utilizes said custom sounds are loaded into the game.
  
• Wait timer for Online results screen reduced significantly.
  
• Akuma: Now doesn't vanish from existence when in dizzy state.
  
• Alice (Mary Skelter): Fixed the case where hitting someone with the first part of Up Smash prevents her from being able to charge the attack.
  
• Asimov (Boss): Now properly displays his HP, no longer turns into Rika if he were to get hit by specific attacks like Sephiroth's jab's last hit.
  
• Alucard: Can now climb ladders, his HUD elements turn transparent if the player character is near the game's percent HUD.
  
• Black Mage: Sleep down throw now properly puts the opponent to sleep.
  
• Bowser: Fixes rare cases where multiple stocks can be depleted from an opponent at once when performing Down Special near blast zones.
  
• Bowser: The enemy grabbed with Side B no longer dies alongside Bowser when self-destructing. Side B kill power is buffed as compensation.
  
• Bowser: Weight slightly decreased.
  
• Bowser: Fixed the issue where using up smash near the ledge may cause him to be stuck in mid-air until he land or dies.
  
• Death: No longer causes bosses to get displaced when hitting them with certain attacks. Now has the ability to use springs on challenge courses.
  
• Dedede: Major edits by Skieye, such as an entirely new side B, new crouch, down tilt and a lot of changes across the board. He also features a new voice as well!
  
• Dio: Added a missing palette in the bin file.
  
• Fairy Leviathan: Fixed the case where the Neutral B projectile goes the wrong way when there aren't any enemies near her.
  
• John Googly: Functioning bin is included in the main download and the patch now.
  
• Red Mist (Boss): Difficulty tweaked.
  
• Saitama: Fixed the case where the atmosphere split cinematic would render behind stages and characters instead of front of them in certain circumstances.
  
• Sephiroth: Several sword trail sparks no longer linger forever if he is interrupted mid-attacks. No longer causes jank to bosses with Side B and Jab. Now has a proper getup animation.
  
• Sephiroth: Improved wing following system majorly, and his A+B move actually functions like it should.
  
• Sakuya: Item points added, can now change Neutral B weapon in backwards order by pressing up + taunt
  
• Sakuya: Up Throw no longer gives her insane meter gain, her effects are no longer stuck in place if she is interrupted by other attacks, + several other bugfixes.
  
• Sora (Suguri): Item points added, several visual effect fixes, Up B start up slightly increased to give a better ability to choose direction of the move.
  
• Spider-Man: Can now cancel into Special moves.
  
• Shuma-Gorath: Now has a new default palette, and can now cancel into Special moves.
  
• Touma: Infinite armor bug fixed.
  
• Vector: Fixed unintended behavior for the Final Smash if time freeze is applied anywhere.
  
• Castlevania Level 2 Course: The stage got a complete overhaul.
  
• Mary Skelter Underground: A minimap that tracks your location and previously visited areas has been added. All breakable blocks in the 2nd area of the map have been removed. Added platforms for the chests near the end of the 2nd area.
  
• Duck Tales Moon: Some breakable blocks removed to prevent the player from getting permanently stuck on certain parts of the stage.
  
• Forest of Magic: Background added

WARNING: GAME_SETTINGS.txt and challenge.txt included. Make sure to backup previous versions of these files if you modified both of them in your own build.
