Both ciel and jio's tutorials recommend using GameMaker 8 while having downloads for the software.
I'm still wondering though; is there a better (or at least less outdated) option for assembling Crusade's sprite strips?

I'm using a pre-made spritesheet though, and I find I need to supplement GameMaker 8's use with Sprite Cow to help with alignment.
Is there a way to use pre-made spritesheets with Piskel? I believe it says that large files will cause problems, so I'll probably have to crop the sheet down, but will it work that way?
