I know it's supposed to be a demo and so they're probably going to save the documentation for when they update it to a more "complete" state, but I'm still curious.

the fighter.txt only needs the name file 'ciel_milla' for example
the rest of them are located in their dats.txt (like CMC+)
and the id starts with 0077

So it has more or less adopted CMC+'s method (with a different starting number) correct?
Does this mean that most CMC+ mod characters are compatible?

The next version of CMC+ v8 is coming out real soon. I'd recommend waiting until then.

One last thing:
If the "other lines" in 0.9.4 are now part of the dat, it should be easy to "hand convert" 0.9.4 chars to 0.9.5, right?

if you mean mods yes, you can port mods from 0.9.4. But as for official characters there is no need to do that. Every official character that was in 0.9.4 is in the 0.9.5 demo.
