Hello, pichu! You have to press the "Attack" and "Special" buttons at the same time to switch between the crusaders.

In my experience though, it's very easy to accidentally use an attack or special move when you meant to switch characters.  This could be because the rubber backing underneath the "A" button on my GameCube Controller is a bit damaged from years of using it to play Smash games (official and fanmade).  I gotta get that fixed someday.

Thankfully, I've found a way to switch characters whenever I want/need to without making accidental inputs.  So, I use JoyToKey and a GameCube Controller to play Smash Crusade CMC+.  I set up my "button assignments" to where the "L" button on my controller will register the "Attack" and "Special" inputs at the same time.  This makes changing between the girls very easy to do consistently!  It's also not hard to set up in JoyToKey at all!
